BARKING NEWS!
Our participation with the North Shore Animal League (www.nsalamerica.org) Route 66 Adoptathon was a big success. More than 15 dogs and puppies found new homes during the events that took place Father's Day and the following Monday. We send out a BIG THANKS to the North Shore folks, all of the adopters, and the fantastic people who donated their money and time!
The latest ARF "dream" is to raise enough money to purchase one of those RVS such as the one North Shore owns. To be able to take our adoptable pets in air-conditioned comfort from site to site and community to community would be so fantastic!
On another note, we were hoping that some people would open their hearts to a few of our older pets listed below, but so far there are no takers. Pets older than 6 or 7 years are wonderful companions! They are perfect for adults -- especially seniors -- and great as doggy companions for pets already established in a home. Often, when you bring in a puppy, your other dog gets jealous because you have to spend so much time with the pup. Also, puppies are irritating to many adult dogs. But mature dogs usually settle in more comfortably because they have learned good doggy behavior.
If you are considering adopting one of our ageless angels and need more information, please call the ARF line and someone will call you back to discuss it further with you. We really, really, want some of these great older dogs to find a soft lap and a safe place to call home!
Look for the ARF newsletter! It should reach your mailbox before the end of June. You can also pick up a newsletter when you visit us at PetSmart on Fridays and Saturdays.

Meet Ray! Little Ray was malnourished and we believe his rough start in life deprived him of his eyesight and hearing. Since we have fed him regularly, his eyesight has improved and so has his hearing! He gets around pretty darn good now. He's about two months old, so he could regain even more of his faculties as he gets stronger and healthier. Ray is a chihuahua mix and he is as precious as he can be! He would do best in a home with another dog he can follow around and where there are people home most of the time to keep a watchful eye on him. If you think you could give Ray the love he needs, click here.

Meet Scrappy! This little chihuahua pup is aptly named because his foster parents say he is quite dominant -- if not a downright bully! He is afraid of NOTHING and NO ONE. He's all bluster and growls. Scrappy is sort of like having a miniature rottweiler! If you would like a challenge and enjoy pups that are full of personality and bravado, then click here.

Meet The Earl! How about a classically handsome orange tabby? The Earl fits the bill. He's a couple of months old, healthy, energetic, and snuggly. If you are aching for some fun and affection, this guy is for you. He will keep you constantly amused and entertained, so click here!
